In February I spent two weeks at Cove Park on residency. For any artist it is a dream location. Extremely quiet and beautiful.
My work while there was a commission from Cryptic for Sonica 2026: a new piece to be performed by the Scottish Ensemble. In this case a quartet of violin, viola and two cellos.
It is called ‘Bright Flows the River’
It will also involve an electronic element in surround, in an enhancing role, working with the recorded sounds of the instruments present.
The performance is currently scheduled for September 26th 2026 at Rutherglen Old Parish Church.

A second commission for Sonica 2026 is creating the music and sound world for artist Daira Ronzoni’s new installation work ‘Cosmic Ch’ixi’.
This is a beautiful psychedelic world created using the Unity game engine, reflecting ritual, the pre-Columbian/Andean cultures of S.America and the relationship to Mother Earth.
The music and sound draw on all of these influences.
